CellarAssist is the journal of a firm that designs and builds private wine cellars. No sponsorships, no guesswork, no salesman in the room.
Our story
We kept giving the same counsel to every client. So we wrote it down.
Every cellar we build starts the same way: a room, a collection, and a hundred small decisions about temperature, humidity, materials, and light. Do them well and the wine is safe for decades. Do them carelessly and no amount of good bottles will save it.
We watched owners get sold oversized units, wrong glass, racking that fought the room, and cooling that could never hold the load. Almost always because the advice they got came from someone with something to sell. So we started publishing what we tell our own clients, in plain language, for anyone.
That is all this is: the counsel of people who do this for a living, written down honestly. The tools are free. The reviews are unbought. The membership is for those who want us on call.
Storage is not glamorous. Done right, it is invisible.
Which is exactly why it is worth getting right the first time.

When we recommend something, it is because we have used it, measured it, or installed it for a client. When we would not, we say so plainly.

Every piece comes from a room we worked on or equipment we tested over real seasons, not a spec sheet read back to you.
Open by default
Our tools are free for anyone to use or embed, competitors included. Good information about wine storage should not be behind a gate.
